Two-Day Capsule Course on IS 374:2019 Conducted by BIS Hyderabad

Hyderabad, 20 February 2026: The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Hyderabad Branch Office, successfully organized a Two-Day Capsule Course for Quality Control Personnel of manufacturers/licensees/applicants on IS 374:2019 – Specification for Electric Ceiling Type Fans and Regulators (Fourth Revision) on 19th and 20th February 2026.

The programme witnessed active participation from Quality Control Personnel representing various manufacturing units of IS 374 licensees/applicants, along with engineering college students.

Day 1 – Industrial Exposure at VIMTA Labs
On the first day, participants visited VIMTA Labs, Genome Valley, where they were provided practical exposure to testing methods and procedures related to IS 374:2019. Experts from VIMTA delivered live demonstrations of various tests pertaining to electric ceiling fans and regulators. Participants had the opportunity to explore different laboratories and gain hands-on understanding of testing requirements, quality parameters, and compliance aspects under the relevant Indian Standard.

Day 2 – Technical Sessions at BIS Hyderabad
The second day featured comprehensive technical presentations delivered by BIS officials at the Conference Hall of the BIS Hyderabad Branch Office. The sessions covered detailed provisions of IS 374:2019, test methods, marking requirements, certification procedures, and quality control measures. The programme concluded with an interactive Question & Answer session, enabling participants to clarify their technical queries.

The capsule course is expected to significantly benefit the participants by strengthening their technical knowledge and improving compliance with the Indian Standard. Certificates were issued to participants upon successful completion of the two-day training programme.
