T-CHIP® delegation engages with top universities and research institutes in Taiwan

TSCHE expresses readiness to partner with T-CHIP to strengthen semiconductor education in Telangana

TG: Taipei / Hyderabad, 22 Aug 2025: A high-level T-CHIP® (Technology–Chip Innovation Program) delegation led by Mr. Sundeep Kumar Makthala commenced its three-day Taiwan mission with strategic engagements at National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University (NYCU) and the Taiwan Semiconductor Research Institute (TSRI), two of Taiwan’s most prestigious institutions shaping the global semiconductor landscape. This visit advances Telangana’s global mission to train 10,000 semiconductor professionals by 2030.

At NYCU, discussions focused on joint research programs, co-designed curriculum, and talent exchange initiatives, aimed at equipping students and faculty in Telangana with world-class skills in chip design and semiconductor innovation. Several of the world’s leading semiconductor and technology company founders and CEOs are alumni of NYCU, including Acer founder Stan Shih and TSMC founder Morris Chang (who served as a key advisor and collaborator to NYCU).

At TSRI, conversations centered on collaborative R&D, shared access to facilities, and sustained research partnerships—designed to nurture cutting-edge semiconductor development.

Joining the delegation virtually, Prof. V. Balakista Reddy, Chairman of the Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE), welcomed the initiative and announced that TSCHE is ready to partner with T-CHIP® to strengthen semiconductor research and talent development in Telangana. He emphasized that these collaborations represent mutually beneficial opportunities, which will elevate Telangana’s research and innovation landscape while shaping India’s role within the global semiconductor ecosystem.

Ken Khoo, CEO of Spring Semiconductor, and Maruthi Kurma, President, WTITC Malaysia chapter, were also part of the delegation—underscoring the depth of international participation and support for T-CHIP®.

Reflecting on the visit, Mr. Sundeep Kumar Makthala, Founder of T-CHIP, stated “Semiconductors are at the heart of global innovation. By partnering with world-class institutions in Taiwan, T-CHIP® is creating a bridge between Telangana’s talent and global expertise. These strategic collaborations will empower our students, drive research breakthroughs, and position Telangana and India at the forefront of semiconductor leadership.”
