Telangana: The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Hyderabad Branch Office, in association with Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC), conducted a Manak Manthan on the Indian Standard IS 19225:2025 – Public Bus Transport Services – Guidelines on 28th July 2025 at Bus Bhavan, Hyderabad.The session was attended by Shri Muni Shekar, Executive Director of TGSRTC, along with senior officials and Heads of Departments from TGSRTC. The standard was presented and explained in detail by Shri Rakesh Tanneeru, Joint Director, BIS Hyderabad, and Shri Shivam Soni, Member Secretary of the concerned Standards Formulation Committee.The discussion focused on various aspects of the standard including the provision of feeder services, parking infrastructure at terminals, adoption of Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS), multimodal integration, and promotion of sustainable urban mobility.
Senior officials from TGSRTC provided valuable suggestions based on practical field experience.The objective of the Manak Manthan was to gather stakeholder feedback to enhance the practicality and applicability of the standard. This initiative reflects BIS’s commitment to developing inclusive and implementable standards that contribute to better public transport services and urban infrastructure. Mr Muni Shekar, ED, TGSRTC, Mr Rakesh Tanneeru, Joint Director, BIS, Mr Shivam Sony, Member Secretary, BIS, Abhisai, SPO and Directors, Senior Managers from TGSRTC participated in the programme.
