Andhra Pradesh is on the brink of scripting educational history. On July 10, the state will host what is expected to be the world’s largest Parent-Teacher Meeting (PTM) — not in elite private schools, but across over 61,000 government-run institutions, involving an unprecedented 2.28 crore stakeholders.

This landmark event, called “Mega Parent-Teacher Meet 2.0,” is the brainchild of Minister for Education & Skills Development, Shri Nara Lokesh, whose relentless drive to transform public education in Andhra Pradesh is now drawing national and international attention.

A First in the Country — Possibly the World
This initiative aims to bring together:
75 lakh+ students
3.3 lakh+ teachers
1.5 crore+ parents
Along with alumni, donors, village secretariat staff, and school management committees

All meeting on the same day, with a shared goal — to bridge the gap between home and school, and ensure every child receives the attention, accountability, and support they deserve.

Such a unified, state-wide PTM — involving this scale of community participation — has never been recorded before, making Andhra Pradesh a global example in participatory public education.

Nara Lokesh: Rebranding Government Schools with Vision & Action
Ever since taking charge, Minister Nara Lokesh has made it clear: “Government schools must become the first choice — not the last resort.”

This PTM 2.0 initiative is a reflection of that vision in action. No longer are parent-teacher meetings the domain of corporate schools — Lokesh is democratizing engagement in education and making parents key stakeholders in their child’s learning journey.

Lokesh’s Bold Reforms Reshaping AP Government Schools

Minister Nara Lokesh has been at the forefront of transforming government schools in Andhra Pradesh. His efforts include launching the Shining Stars programme to reward academic excellence, reviving the Dokka Seethamma mid-day meal scheme in junior colleges, and providing free electricity to over 44,000 schools.

He introduced the “One Class–One Teacher” policy, upgraded hundreds of schools with better infrastructure, and implemented star ratings to track school performance. To strengthen transparency and parent involvement, he rolled out digital progress cards, encouraged holistic PTMs, and opened formal channels for parent feedback.

From better food to better facilities, and from recognition to results, Lokesh’s reforms are changing the face of government education in the state.

The Event: Where & When?
The state-wide event will take place on July 10, 2025, in every government, aided, unaided school and junior college.
The flagship program will be held at Kothacheruvu ZP High School in Puttaparthi constituency, where Chief Minister Shri N. Chandrababu Naidu and Minister Lokesh will personally interact with students and their families.

Why This Matters
In a time when government schools across the country struggle with enrollment and trust, Andhra Pradesh is showing that with vision, sincerity, and community engagement, change is not just possible — it is inevitable.

This PTM 2.0 is not just an event; it’s a statement. A statement that government schools in AP are changing — and changing for good.

“What happens in classrooms should not be a mystery to parents. Only when parents are involved, schools thrive. That’s the belief behind this initiative,” a senior education official noted.

What’s Next?
Following this mega event, the AP Government plans to institutionalize PTMs in every academic calendar, ensure continued community involvement, and work closely with alumni and donors to further strengthen infrastructure and quality in government schools.

Bottom Line
July 10, 2025 is not just a date on the education calendar — it may well become a milestone in India’s public school history. And at the heart of this transformation is a minister who dares to believe that government schools can deliver world-class education — with dignity, discipline, and dreams.
